Exciting news from the St John’s Trust Schools!
Recently, a strategic planning session was held with the Management and the full Board of Governors of the St John’s Trust Schools.
We are delighted to announce that one of the primary strategic objectives is the creation of very limited accommodation for students and more importantly, begin the construction of staff accommodation on our campus in the form of one and two-bedroom apartments.
For a variety of reasons, mainly economic, a good number of former students of the Trust Schools have relocated regionally (or even further afield) for employment. Yet the desire for a St John’s Education for their children remains very strong.
Many families identify with the values-based education offered and, indeed, recognize and value the Christian Foundation of the schools.
With this in mind, it has become imperative to build a small, boutique-like, comfortable, and modern facility that would accommodate a limited number of students on a weekly basis only, and a number of young staff who would benefit from accommodation in return for the pastoral and academic mentoring of our few boarding students.
– A limited number of girls in 6th Form does not make the College a Co-Ed Institution; but it has proved a successful decision.
– A limited number of boarders does not make the College a boarding school; but it will offer an important option to families not based in Harare.
This small facility would secure our long-term sustainability and attract good boys and good families to St John’s that would otherwise be lost to other institutions.
The benefits of offering accommodation to our young staff are obvious in a property (and rental) market that is clearly very challenging, and largely unaffordable.
Construction begins in April 2024. Target completion of Phase 1 is September/October 2024.
Any family wishing to secure a place in the weekly accommodation from January 2025 needs to apply directly to the Headmaster, Cav. C. Trinci as soon as possible. Normal admission procedures will follow, including interviews and assessments, as arranged.
